PREPPING FOR THE BASIC ASSESSMENT 2026

Open to all members of the Association, preferably having completed the Novice training course. All applicants must have kept their own bees for a minimum of one year. The course is free to attend but you will need to register. See below.

During the course we will be focusing on the basic assessment syllabus, giving the opportunity to share ideas, experiences, facts and covering topics like swarm control, disease, varroa management – to name a few – building on existing knowledge in preparation for the assessment. Focus will be given to enhancing practical skills and developing confidence. We will be encouraging participants to study the syllabus and using Monday evenings to raise any questions they have.

We have already contacted Paul Roberts (master beekeeper) who carried out the assessments last year and he has confirmed his interest in supporting us again.

The sessions will run from 13th April 2026 for 6 weeks each Monday evening from 6 until 8.
