In the main entrance there are scale models of beehives and posters about bees.
Manchester Beekeepers are an organisation who promote the art of beekeeping Our head-quarters are at Heaton Park where we have an extraction room, a public viewing area and a bee garden (apiary) kindly donated and maintained by Manchester City Council. Here we run training courses for beginners, provide lectures for the membership and provide bee clinics for the wealth fare of bees. The facility is open each Sunday between dinner and tea time.
Courses are run throughout the year not only for beginners but anyone wishing to brush up on manipulation skills and techniques. We also provide facilities to take BBKA examinations.
The extraction room can be used by any member with only one provision, that the room is left as clean as it was found. The viewing room is open to the public where they can see an Observation Hive (below), a display of micro-scopes, bee paraphernalia and bee literature.
